I built a funny side project
Growing newsletter with octocats 🐙 😻
Growing newsletter is hard…
So this week instead of writing a proper useful newsletter, I decided to build a side project which would help me to grow this newsletter 🙈
I think at this point I should invent some term for “pathological irresistible desire to build side projects” 😅
Anyways, let me introduce 🥁…
OctoArt
Introducing OctoArt
Generate beautiful GitHub octocat art with one click
OctoArt is an AI app that allows to generate GitHub octocat art with one click. You enter a prompt, and AI generates a beautiful image with “hidden” GitHub logo.
I built this project in 5 hours, using Vercel Storage (Blob and KV) and Replicate's Stable Diffusion API. But all the code is basically taken from Steven Tey's Spirals 🙈
So the marketing idea behind this app is pretty simple:
It's nice looking and has some viral potential
People will talk about it / share pics from it
They will follow me on Twitter / subscribe to my newsletter (links to them is on every page of the app 😀)
I have no idea how it will play out, but I hope it's gonna be a pretty interesting side project marketing experiment.
Of course, the app is open-source. So if you want to see how it works, check it out on GitHub (and give it a star ⭐)
Also, I created a gallery to showcase nice images. Take a look.

Btw, special shoutout to my wife Lisa who designed this awesome logo for OctoArt ❤️
Repo of the week
Revert is an open-source platform that allows to rapidly build integrations with CRMs. It comes with seamless OAuth, unified data model across HubSpot, Salesforce, Zoho CRM and others.
Check out Revert and give it a star ⭐
P.S. If you have less than 1,000 stars and want to be featured in the next issue, send me a message on Twitter
See you in the next one 🤗
